Volunteering is essential to run a home football game. It takes approximately 25 volunteers for each JV and Varsity home game. Positions include team meal pick up and service(3pm-530pm),grill master, concession sales, prep, volunteer table check-in, program sales, chain gang, half time snack etc.
If each parent volunteers just 9 hours per season we could have a very successful game day. But frequently we have to go outside of our football family for help which eats up our end of year budget. Meaning we have to give concessions away to other sports teams to run who then end up making money for their own team. During past seasons we did not have enough volunteers for JV games we had to forfeit concessions and lost a profit of $1500.
The Touchdown Club does reward its volunteers. We give each volunteer after 9 hours of service a T-shirt. We also do a raffle at our end of season banquet. For each 9 hours of service you get a raffle ticket. The raffle is drawn at the end of the banquet. The past two years we have given away 2 Hilton night stays to Ybor City, Times Square, Chapel Hill (Marriot) and Port St Lucie. We have also given gift baskets from Jammin’ Car Wash, Bonefish, D & B Promotions Gator Gear and Orange Theory.
